[#KCON18NY] Artist Reveal – Pentagon
Pentagon is a ten-member boy group formed by Cube Entertainment in 2016. The members are HUI, JIN HO, HONG SEOK, E DAWN, SHIN WON, YEO ONE, YAN AN, YUTO, KINO, WOO SEOK who were first introduced through the Mnet survival show Pentagon Maker. Pentagon made their official debut on October 10, 2016 with their first EP Pentagon, including title track “Gorilla.” The group released their second EP Five Senses in December 2016 and third EP Ceremony in June 2017. Ceremony became their first U.S. chart entry and took number 14 on Billboard’s World Album Chart. Pentagon then released their fourth and fifth EP Demo_01 and Demo_02 in September and November 2017. Recently, Pentagon made a comeback with their sixth Korean EP Positive with critically acclaimed lead single “Shine.”

Super Junior debuted as a twelve-member boy group produced by SM Entertainment and debuted with single “Twins (Knock Out)” in 2005. The group comprised a total of thirteen members when they released single “U” in 2006. Super Junior launched into great international recognition following the release of their best-selling single “Sorry, Sorry” in 2009. Super Junior has been one of the best-selling artists in the history of K-pop, having earned thirteen music awards from the Mnet Asian Music Awards, sixteen from the Golden Disc Awards, won Favorite Artist Korea at the 2008 MTV Asia Awards as well as the International Artist and Best Fandom at the 2015 Teen Choice Awards. Currently, the actively promoting members of Super Junior for their upcoming 8th repackage album Replay are Leeteuk, Heechul, Yesung, Shindong, Eunhyuk, Siwon, and Donghae. The repackage album dropped on April 12 with title track “Lo Siento.”

Fromis_9, an initialism for “From Idol School,” is a nine-member girl group formed through Mnet’s reality show “Idol School” in 2017, which ran from July 13 to September 29. As a result of live and online voting, Roh Ji Sun, Song Ha Young, Lee Sae Rom, Lee Chae Young, Lee Na Gyung, Park Ji Won, Lee Seo Yeon, Baek Ji Heon and Jang Gyu Ri secured spots in the final ranking and formed fromis_9 on the same day. Before their official debut, the group performed their pre-debut single “Glass Shoes” at the 2017 Mnet Asian Music Awards in Japan. The group officially debuted on January 24, 2018 with their first EP To. Heart along with their lead single “To Heart.”

NCT 127 is NCT’s Seoul team that is not only based in Seoul, the home of K-POP, but also active all around the world. They made their debut on July 2016 with ‘Fire Truck’, winning the Newcomer of the Year awards at various awards ceremonies. Followed by their debut, they are getting global attention and constantly winning the 1st place in various global music charts, with their songs such as ‘Limitless’, ‘Cherry Bomb’, ‘TOUCH’ and etc. With all their achievements, fans around the world have high expectations for their future performances.
[#KCON18NY] Artist Reveal – Stray Kids
Stray Kids is JYP Entertainment’s 9-member boy group formed through Mnet’s reality show <Stray Kids> in 2017. The members are Bang Chan, Woojin, Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, HAN, Felix, Seungmin and I.N. Prior to the premiere of Stray Kids, the group released a music video for its first single “Hellevator” on October 6, 2017, and the single took top five on iTunes’ K-pop chart in 12 countries. The group released their pre-debut EP Mixtape in January 2018, which debuted at number 2 on Gaon’s Album Chart and Billboard’s World Albums Chart. Stray Kids officially debuted with EP I am NOT on March 26, 2018 with title song “District 9.” The MV for “District 9” released on the same date gained over 4 million views within 24 hours and became the K-pop group debut MV with most views in 24 hours.

Heize is a South Korean singer-songwriter and rapper. She made her debut in 2014 with her single “After I’ve Wandered A Bit.” In July 2016, she released her second EP album And July with title track “And July” featuring DEAN and DJ Friz. Her single “Star” released in 2016 charted at #1 on Gaon Digital Chart upon its release. She has also participated in the making of several Korean dramas’ original soundtrack, including “Did You Ride UFO?” for Jealousy Incarnate in 2016 and “Round and Round” for Guardian: The Lonely and Great God in 2017. The title track “Don’t Know You” from Heize’s third EP album /// (You, Clouds, Rain) released in June 2017 topped major music charts and solidified her position as a powerful influencer in the music industry. In March 2018, Heize released her fourth EP album Wind with title track “Jenga.”

EXID, short for “Exceed in Dreaming,” is a K-pop girl group formed in 2012. The five members are Solji, LE, Hani, Hyelin, and Jeonghwa. The group debuted with the single “Whoz That Girl.” They rose to fame with their single “Up & Down” in 2014 and promoted the song once more after promotions ended due to its newfound success. EXID won their first music show win with “Up and Down” in 2015. They released their second EP Ah Yeah in April 2015 and first studio album titled Street in June 2016. In December 2016, Banana Culture announced leader Solji’s hiatus. The remaining four members continued promotions with two more EPs Eclipse and Full Moon in 2017. In April 2018, EXID made another comeback as four with the ‘90s-channeling new single “Lady.”
[#KCON18NY] Artist Reveal – Wanna One
Wanna One is an eleven-member boy group formed from Mnet’s survival boy group reality show Produce 101 Season 2. The final members as well as group name were chosen by the public audience’s votes. The members who took top 11 in the final were KANG DANIEL, PARK JI HOON, LEE DAE HWI, KIM JAE HWAN, ONG SEONG WU, PARK WOO JIN, LAI KUAN LIN, YOON JI SUNG, BAE JIN YOUNG, HWANG MIN HYUN, HA SUNG WOON. The group officially debuted through Wanna One Premier Show-Con on August 7, 2017. Their debut EP 1×1=1 (To Be One) combined with the repackaged album 1-1=0 (Nothing Without You) made Wanna One the first Kpop group to sell over one million copies of their debut album. In March 2018, Wanna One broke their own record by selling 700,000 copies in the preorders of their second EP 0+1=1 (I Promise You). The album was released on March 19 along with title track “Boomerang.”
